Matthew was raised on a steady diet of 80s horror, sci-fi and fantasy films. He began drawing at a young age, studying comics, nature and "The Making of..." movie books, using their aesthetic as inspiration for his own designs.
Throughout his early years, he explored fine art, filmmaking and special makeup effects. After living and working in NYC and Hawai'i, he landed in San Francisco where he began pursuing the exciting realm of digital illustration and 3D modeling for film and video games.
As a modern concept artist, Matthew utilizes digital sculpting and 3D modeling techniques to create assets and arrange compositions. In post-process, he uses imaging software to achieve a more artistic look with digital paint-overs and special effects. More importantly, he always bases his designs on real world reference creating believable solutions to whatever assets a client may need. Matthew strongly believes that impeccable research and development is paramount to an impeccable design.
